Research Interests:

I am interested in the systematics and biogeography of the millipede order Polydesmida, specifically the families Sphaeriodesmidae, Xystodesmidae, Rhachodesmidae and Chelodesmidae.

My doctoral research has as its primary focus the phylogeny and biogeography of the Sphaeriodesmus genus. This genus is distributed from north of Mexico to Panama, and is also found on the Caribbean Islands of Cuba and Jamaica. I am particularly interested in learning about what major vicariant events have shaped the phylogenetic relationships among its species. I am using both morphological and molecular characters to examine Sphaeriodesmus phylogeny.
